Our Pastor

The Church of the Brethren believes in the priesthood of all believers. We teach that baptism is also an ordination for ministry, and that God calls each and every Christian to serve in their own way, and with their own gifts. As such, no one is more holy or more reverend than anyone else.

We do, however, call forth and ordain members for that special set-apart ministry of pastoring.

Paster Cara McCallister The Lafayette Church of the Brethren was very pleased to welcome our new pastor Cara McCallister, August 20, 2006. She has a Master of Divinity degree from Bethany Theological Seminary in Richmond, Indiana, and a Master of Science degree in Counseling Psychology from Frostburg State University, Frostburg, Maryland. Born in West Virginia and raised in Ohio, Pastor Cara also worked 25 years in the mental health field. She has served as Acting Chaplain at the Richmond State Hospital and as pastor in Lewiston, Minnesota.

Our former Pastors, Enten and Katherine purchased a Peace Pole as their farewell gift to our congregation. It was planted in the front yard by the stewards before the ground froze. We dedicated our Peace Pole January 6, 2002! See the service of dedication and peace notes that accompanied it. Lafayette Church of the Brethrn's Peace Pole, dedicated January 6, 2002"
